Frequently Asked Questions
Q: May I use one activity for two areas of wellness? For example, if I go for a run with a friend for one hour, can that count as both physical and social wellness?
A: The guideline is that you must spend about 20-30 minutes on an activity in order to earn your points for one wellness category. Since you spent one hour on an activity, then yes, you may count it toward two areas of wellness. However, if you only ran and socialized for 30 minutes, then you would need to choose one or the other.
Q: May I use homework, writing an essay, or working out for P.E. class to earn points?
A: No, you must earn points from activities you CHOOSE to do, not something you HAVE to do for school or work. However, you may earn points for your extracurricular activities, since you CHOOSE to spend your time as a participant on a team or in a club.
Q: What do I do if I am unsure if an activity counts for points?
A: Submit your points. The worst that can happen is your submission gets deleted with a message explaining why, and you try again. Or, feel free to ask an Eagles Wellness Challenge committee member before your submit.
Q: What's the deal with the weekly raffles?
A: Raffles are only for those who are active during the week AND who submit the required mission that states it is a "Raffle qualifier." We hope the raffle prizes serve as incentive for you to keep going!
Q: Who wins and what do they win?
A: It varies from year to year depending on the donations we receive and the outcomes of the challenge, but this year, we hope to give prizes to the top three teams and the top three individuals who are not on a winning team.
Q: What is a way to advance in the competition?
A: BONUS POINTS!!!! Historically, the teams and individuals who completed the most bonus activities have come out on top. Additionally, remembering to submit your completed missions on time—Mondays by noon—will make sure all of your efforts count toward your individual and team totals.
Q: When should I submit my missions?
A: We recommend submitting your missions daily. Officially, however, you have until the following Monday at noon to submit any missions for the previous week. After that time, any missions you submit for that week will be deleted from your point total.
